The first homes in Griffith went up in 1926 and 1927, built on garden city ideas for public servants arriving in the new capital. The suburb's heritage listed houses include the Whitley Houses from 1939 and the homes along Evans Crescent, and Manuka Oval, Manuka Pool and the Manuka shops sit on its doorstep.
